Galaxy Newsbrief - January 23rd, 2013

* Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness #1 should be in comic shops today. This is an in-continuity prequel to the upcoming movie Star Trek Into Darkness. IDW's previous in-continuity movie prequel, Countdown, was an entertaining and expansive lead-in to the 2009 Star Trek movie, and I assume, since the same folks are involved, that Countdown to Darkness will be as well. If you're a Trek fan, these comics are an essential part of the new mythology. Preview the first few pages of #1 here.
